SCATTER! Documentation

At long last, an update! I’ve been starting to store vids on the vimeo website, they seem to pay close attention to video quality and it’s a far cry from most of what one sees on You Tube. Below is the video - there is lots of info on the video page…

The Telecom Trotskyites

Looks like we’re all quite a thorn to the big business folks. I actually really like this article - it says allot about the folks we’re fighting on the issue. How can someone actually think that if they downloaded an ‘itune’ that the only place you should be allowed to listen is on your ipod? well here’s to the converts that I hope the article makes.

CANADIANS Tomorrow is your best chance to fight the Canadian DMCA Event in Calgary, national phone-in - Boing Boing

On BoinBoing this am (via Michael Geist’s Blog)
Let’s do it people. If this passes, it would mean a huge infringement on our fair use rights by corporations that are too greedy to see that they are dinosaurs in the digital media age. They are simply too worried that they wont be able to overcharge for media, and get away with only paying the artist involved a tiny percentage. I wont even get into the ideas around appropriation and culture. See Craig Baldwin’s Sonic Outlaws for what is likely to be the best filmic renditions of its importance.

What can you do? Canadian DMCA threat

I hope you all have been keeping up with Canada’s incoming copyright bill - rather than me rewrite it all here, I thought I would just give you a slew of links so you could catch up. Basically I’ll tell you this - Jim Prentice (Industry Minister), has stated that no matter how many questions concerned citizens send to him, he will not answer them. He’s likely a bit scared, as the last two Ministers who have tried to introduce this bill have lost their jobs. Under Harper, it appears that Canada has given in to just towing the line to US business interests. It’s really sad.
